An Essay on Psychological Balance in International Affairs, for Consideration by Both the Australian Public and English-Speaking Publics Throughout the World.
My name is Brian Harrisson. I am a newcomer to Classic Residences, a residence for the aged and ageing in East Brighton, a suburb of the city of Melbourne. Other residents, and the officials of the organization there, have been helpful.
I recently had a meal in the main restaurant of the organization, with a visitor. After finishing our respective meals, we inspected the Classic Residences' organization's library, which is adjacent to the main restaurant. The library, is a reader's treasure trove. I found a book there, titled, 'I Shall Not Hate'.
The book's author is 'Izzeldin Abuelaish', a medical practitioner who was born and raised, in the Jabilia Refugee Camp in Gaza and lived there with his family including his three daughters. The author received a scholarship to study medicine in Cairo. This was followed by a diploma from the Institute of Obstetrics and Gynacology from the University of London. He completed a diploma in the same discipline at Soroca Medical Centre in Israel. This was followed by a speciality in fetal medicine in Italy and Belgium. He then undertook a Masters in Public Health at Harvard University.
A key year in the authors life was 2009. This was the year when Israel expressed the intention to shell the civilian areas of Gaza. Israel adopted this strategy because it was aware that Hamas intended to station its military personnel among Gaza's civillians. Hamas may have considered that locating military personnel in civilian areas, may have blunted the intensity of Israeli attacks. Perhaps also bring international criticism upon Israel. The inclusion, of Gazan civilians in the war strategies of both protagenists, cost the lives of many innocent citizens of Gaza, including the three daughters of the author.
Being aware that the war strategies of both protagonists, involved irresponsible distain for the lives of millions Gazan civilians who died. This may have, influenced the author in titling his book avoid taking sides in the ongoing conflagaration viz. the title, 'I Shall Not Hate', does it well'.
The author now lives in Toronto with his remaining family. His website and foundation can be found at: 'www.daughtersforlife.com'
Many thanks to the Classic Residences organization for providing a library for its residents that contains, a variety of rich and important, books, such as the one considered herein.
